Information we collect and why
A parent or guardian may create an optional account to unlock additional activities selected for an education level. Guest learners can use the app's built-in preschool activities without creating an account. During registration and account use, Aha Sprout and its service providers process:
- the parent or guardian's display name and email address;
- the parent or guardian's mobile number with country code;
- the selected education level and content preferences;
- email-verification and account status; and
- account creation and update timestamps.
We use this information to authenticate the parent, provide the selected learning experience, protect the service, maintain the account and respond to support or deletion requests. The mobile number is an unverified contact field; it is not used to sign in, recover a password or establish identity.
Service providers and sharing
Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, services provided by Google, process parent account and profile information for authentication and app functionality. The parent display name is processed by Firebase Authentication and stored in the parent profile in Cloud Firestore. For signed-in users, Cloud Firestore also delivers developer-authored activity settings and educational lesson content, which may be cached on the device for offline use. This includes age-appropriate factual content such as the current holder of a public office; learner answers and scores are not uploaded to Cloud Firestore. Firebase Authentication also processes IP address and limited technical user-agent information to protect sign-in flows and prevent abuse. We do not request device location permission or use this information to track children. Google processes this information under its applicable terms and privacy commitments. We do not sell personal information. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a lawful business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards.
Information stored on the device
A learner nickname, selected language and learning progress are stored locally to personalize the experience and allow activities to continue later. Learning progress may include explored lessons, names or prompts heard, activities attempted, correct recognition results, stars and badges. Unlike the parent display name collected during registration, the learner nickname is not sent to Firebase Authentication or Cloud Firestore and is not added to the parent's online profile. Parents should use a nickname rather than a child's full legal name. The nickname can be deleted from Privacy, Safety & Support, Animal Learning progress can be reset from Parent Account settings by a signed-in verified parent, the language can be changed in the app, and uninstalling the app removes the remaining local settings and progress.
Text-to-speech
When speech is requested, lesson text is passed to the text-to-speech service installed on the device. That service is controlled by the device or voice-service provider and may follow that provider's privacy policy and settings.
Children's privacy
Aha Sprout is designed for children with parent or guardian guidance. Account registration is intended for a parent or guardian. We do not ask a child for a name, email address, phone number, birth date, exact age, school, address, photograph or precise location. The app contains no advertising, chat, social networking or user-generated content.
Parents and guardians should supervise use and should not send children's personal information in support or account-deletion requests.
Permissions and tracking
Aha Sprout does not currently use advertising or analytics SDKs and does not request location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone permissions.
Security
Account access uses email and password authentication with email verification. Data is encrypted in transit. Firestore rules restrict signed-in parents to their own profile. No system is perfectly secure, so parents should use a unique password and protect their device and email account.
Retention and deletion
Parent account information is retained while the account remains active and only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above. A parent may request deletion through the app or the Account Deletion page. We normally complete a verified deletion request within 30 days. We delete the Firebase account and associated profile unless limited account records must be retained for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution or legal compliance.
Your choices
Parents may review or update profile preferences in the app, delete the learner nickname, reset Animal Learning progress, request account deletion, or contact us with a privacy question. Depending on local law, additional access, correction, objection or deletion rights may apply.
Changes
We may update this policy when the app, law or data practices change. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice when required.
